Humboldt Bay Regional Simulation Center (HBRSC) is the premiere North Coast regional training center offering state-of-the art education for nurses, physicians, emergency personnel and professionals-in-training throughout Northern California. As a collaborative partnership between the region’s hospitals, university and college, Public Health department, emergency medical services and extensive rural clinic network, faculty and educators create challenging clinical experiences to improve patient safety, provide interactive learning experiences with high-fidelity mannequins and bridge the gap between knowledge and practice.

Save the Date! August 10th, 11th, and 12th

Humboldt Bay Regional Simulation Center will be hosting three days of traing and orientation to simulation for the educator or mannequin operator. Day One will review the nuts and bolts of simulation and how to implement it into your curriculum and training. Days Two and Three will delve into mannequin operation and scenario development for our Mother, Baby, Adult and Pediatric simulators. Lunch will be provided for all three days and CEU's are available at $10 per day with a discount for attending all three days.

We're moving & expanding!

Throughout October, HBRSC is relocating to a larger Simulation Center at 804 3rd Street, Old Town Eureka at the corner of I St. and 3rd St. There is 2-hour street parking as well as metered parking nearby so please plan ahead. The new Center will equipped with three simulation suites, including a trauma room, medical-surgical suite and maternal/child simulation room. We are currently looking for donations of tables, chairs and a couch for our student break room. Please contact HBRSC at education@hbrsc.org for donations and inquiries.

Code Blue at Mad River Community Hospital

HBRSC staff brought iStan, a high fidelity manikin, to Mad River Community Hospital (MRCH) to perform mock Code Blue drills for Day and Night shift nursing, medical and ancillary staff. iStan, an "orienting" Plant Operations employee was found down in the Lobby of the hospital following a fall off a ladder. Houskeeping and Plant Operations staff recognized the medical emergency, activated the hospital's emergency response system and iStan was revived and transported to the Emergency Department for intubation and pacemaking.

iStan fights H1N1 at the Health Fair

Nursing students representing College of the Redwoods will be using iStan, our adult male high-fidelity mannequin, to educate the community about H1N1 influenza and best practices in prevention. Please join us interact with "Stan" and students at the Bayshore Mall Saturday, February 6, 2010, from 10am - 3pm.
